New theme

The pending WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance deadlines for public colleges, at both the federal level (now postponed) and New York state level (not postponed yet, as far as I know), have me looking at our department’s web content with a fair bit of paranoia. Today was the blog’s turn to get some attention.

The theme for this blog had been pretty much unchanged since its inception in 2015, so it needed a refresh, both for accessibility and other reasons (such as mobile-friendliness). WCAG requirements were a good impetus to make a change. I spent some time researching the most accessible themes this afternoon, and then implementing the new theme was a painless flip of a switch. I only had to write two new CSS rules.

I hope you like the new look of the blog, and that it provides improved interaction! Please feel free to let me know your thoughts. If you have any accessibility opinions about these pages, I would very much like to hear them!
